Fishing and Cooking
Fishing arrives with nets, rods, cages and harpoons and Fred the Fisher's shop, Cooking lets you cook your catch and eat to heal, and movement gets faster.
New features and highlights
- Fishing skill added: start your fishing journey south of the bank near the starting area!
- Four types of fishing equipment: nets, rods, cages and harpoons.
- Fred the Fisher is now available, stocking all the supplies you'll need to get started.
- Cooking skill added: cook your catch over campfires near the fishing spots.
- Eating cooked fish now restores health.
Gameplay
- Increased player movement speed.
- Added settings for music volume and sound effects volume, plus the ability to mute the menu music.
Shops and NPCs
- Fixed shop item order issues.
- Shops now only buy items they sell. Some shops may not buy any items.
- Added the start of the butcher shop, including a food grinder to create fishing bait from raw fish.
- Updated NPC drop tables to drop fish instead of health potions. Health potions will be replaced with cooked shrimp in the future to prevent rarity issues.
- Player-owned shops are temporarily disabled until saving is added.
Technical improvements
- Switched from a JavaScript VM to a WebAssembly VM for UI scripts: huge performance improvements (no more garbage collection hitches).
- Optimized the net code by hashing strings.
- Fixed players appearing online longer than they should.
- The zoom setting now saves on logout.
- Fixed item descriptions not showing in shops.
