Relaunch: Beacon Boosting, Emberite and Viridium

The relaunch brings Beacon Boosting world buffs, Emberite and Viridium gear and tools, three new trees, a big rebalance and smaller downloads.

The relaunch patch, released on March 23, 2026.

Beacon Boosting

  • Beacon Boosting is live. Players can now spend gems to activate global buffs for everyone:
    • +50% XP
    • +50% max resources per node
    • +50% mount speed
    • +25% crafting speed
  • Tradeable gem packs have been added to Gemmy's shop. These can be sold to other players through player-owned shops.

Gameplay and balance

  • Multi-combat has been removed across the world (it now only exists in the skeleton boss room).
  • Base Melee, Defense and Health XP increased from 6 to 10 (a 67% increase).
  • Fixed the Skeleton Dungeon's level requirement checks.
  • Added Emberite gear: the armor requires level 50 Defense, and the sword 50 Melee.
  • Added Viridium gear: the armor requires level 40 Defense, and the sword 40 Melee.
  • Added Emberite and Viridium tools.
  • Planted 3 new kinds of tree: linden (near the castle), cherry (in the center of the port city) and maple (near the Ents).
  • Processing is now slower than its gathering pair (in time, not XP).
  • Made unarmed players much weaker.
  • Increased the respawn delay for all NPCs (it used to be 1 second for all of them).
  • Changed the combat formula a lot.
  • LOTS of skilling rebalancing, spreading recipes out across many tiers. Too many to list here. All skills now have recipes up to the mid 70s or 80s.

Performance and engine

  • Reduced the asset pack size by over 50% with Zstd compression.
  • Switched to LZ4 for compressing packets between the client and server.
  • Optimized world map performance.
  • Upgraded the web client to WebGL2.
  • Fixed pixel art blurring caused by anti-aliasing on the web.
  • Reverted some engine updates from the last update that seemed to hurt performance.

Stability

  • Fixed various Android crashes.
  • Moved to a self-hosted database for better reliability.

Gameplay fixes

  • Fixed a 16-bit item limit in crafting stations.
  • Fixed crafting station titles (no more everything being called "Anvil").
  • Fixed player movement being delayed by one frame.
  • Fixed player sprite and name jitter when frame times are uneven.

UI and chat

  • Fixed caret alignment in multi-line messages.
  • Fixed overlapping messages in chat.
  • Fixed player icons scaling incorrectly with multi-line messages.
  • Messages no longer render outside the chatbox.
  • Improved UI click handling so you can't interact with invisible or blocked elements (it now behaves more like a browser).
  • Cleaned up the Premium Store UI.

Hotfix 1 (March 29, 2026)

  • Removed the old message about limited-time desktop play.
  • Fixed an issue with player-owned shops when listing some brand new items.

Hotfix 2 (March 30, 2026)

  • Fixed a bug where XP or crafted items could be lost.
  • Fixed Emberite and Viridium not being clipped.
  • NPCs now wander less often, over a wider range from their spawn point.
  • Increased respawn times for all ores, fishing spots and trees, to reward active play and make things harder for bots.
