# Starter quests and Hollow King fixes

A fairer Hollow King fight, new players get a quick start with guided starter quests, and the game feels snappier, loads faster and uses less memory.

## A new start

New players no longer sit through a long tutorial. **First Steps** now takes seconds: say hello to the Combat Instructor, open your quests and pick one. The whole HUD is there from the start, and nothing is locked.

What the old tutorial taught now comes as short starter quests, each with a reward to keep:

- **Short on Ore**: mining, smelting and putting on armour, for a set of bronze armour.
- **Combat Training**: your sword, healing, fishing, cooking and your first fights, for the sword, a net, bait and 50 shrimp.
- **Making Money**: daily rewards, tasks, your own market stall and Nearby Players, for 250 gold.
- **A Place for Puddle**: your first pet.

![The quest log at the end of First Steps, with an arrow pointing at Short on Ore. The list shows Short on Ore, Combat Training, A Place for Puddle, Making Money and By a Thread, each with what it gives and how long it takes](https://legendsoftaria.com/images/updates/2026-11-03/quest-log.webp)

*Every starter quest says what you get and how long it takes.*

Instead of walls of text, a hand (an arrow on desktop) shows you what to tap and where to drag things, and whoever or whatever the quest needs glows so you can spot it from across the screen. Already know the ropes? Andy and Fred ask before explaining, so you can skip it.

There's also a new **Auto Mount** setting (on by default) that puts you on your mount for longer walks.

*An arrow (a hand on phones) shows where each ore goes.*

## Hollow King fixes

- **Dodges count.** If you dodged his smash, charge or lunge on your screen, it now misses you, even if you play from far away. Standing still for his Hush works the same way.
- **Everyone takes a turn.** He no longer just picks on whoever stands closest. He goes after each fighter in turn, wherever they are, with a flash over their head so you can see who's next.
- **Rares go to the fighters.** Your chance at his rares, and the Wisps he gives, now depend on how much of the fight you were part of. Land a few hits and stand around, and your chance drops (chat lets you know).
- The Pumpkin Walk's lanterns now line the path all the way to the Veil Gate, and every grower's name sits by their own lantern.

## Snappier from far away

If you play far from the world, from Asia or Australia say, opening windows, checking items, moving gear and bank items, switching weapons, starting to gather and chatting all happen the moment you tap now, instead of waiting on the world.

Also on shaky connections:

- No more getting pulled back and stuttering forward after a lag spike while walking.
- Other players no longer keep walking on the spot after they stop.
- Talking to someone right as you reach them no longer gets ignored.
- The game no longer freezes when your signal drops or you switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.

## Hear back from us

**Report & Feedback** has a new **Messages** tab where you can read our replies to your bug reports and feedback, and see whether each one has been dealt with. You get a note in chat when a new one arrives.

## Updates and restarts

- The game now downloads updates by itself, without you having to press Log in first.
- A countdown at the top of the screen shows when the world is about to restart, and the game reconnects you by itself afterwards.
- **Patch Notes** on the welcome screen work again.

## Faster and lighter

- The game uses a lot less memory, and keeps it that way as new outfits and monsters are added.
- No more freezes while the game loads, and you reach the main menu sooner.
- Busy screens are easier on older phones.
- Level-up fireworks, gathering sparkles, rain splashes and fireflies now show on older iPhones in Safari too.

## Also new

- The **Heal** button's red ring pulses when you're below half health.
- Melee attacks now hit an enemy beside or behind you when nothing is in front of you.
- On phones, the store and sign-in tell you what went wrong again, instead of a generic "please try again".

## Fixes

- You can no longer equip gear above your level by dropping your worn gear onto it.
- Mutes now cover guild chat and private messages too.
- Chat no longer loses what you typed as it opens, or pops back open after you send.
- Crossbow bolts and slime bombs now fly straight at their target.
- Fewer crashes on Android, and fewer failed sign-ins on Android and iPhone.
